The shape also can be respresented as:
From the above figure, we observe that the given shape can be divided into a rectangle and a square.

Area of the square=side2
= 82
= 64 sq. cm

Area of the rectangle=l×b
= 18×4
= 72 sq. cm

So,
Area of the given shape = Area of rectangle + Area of square
⇒ Area of the given shape = 64 sq. cm + 72 sq. cm
⇒ Area of the given shape =136 sq. cm
