1.(a) Roasting of copper sulphide.
2Cu2S (Copper sulphide) + 3O2 2Cu2O (Copper oxide) + 2SO2

2. (b) Reduction of copper oxide with copper sulphide.
2Cu2O + Cu2S 6Cu + SO2

3. Electrolytic refining
At positive electrode, impure copper dissolves:
Cu (s) Cu2+(aq) + 2e
At negative electrode, pure copper deposits:
Cu2+ + 2e Cu (s)
