India is described as a federal state with subsidiary unitary features. Identify two of these unitary features.

The 2 features that shows a unitary features are-

1. No equal representation of States- In a True federal like America there is equal representation from each state like in America there is 2 representation from each state. Whereas in India there is no equal representation from each state. In India states like Mizoram have only 1 seats whereas Bihar has 40 seats. This shows that there is no equal representation of States.

2. Emergency Provisions- there are 3 types of emergencies as stipulated by the constitution- National, State and financial. During emergency the center gains all the power and the state goes into the control of the center. It converts the federal structure into a unitary one without a formal amendment of the Constitution. This kind of transformation is not found in any other federation
