The theory was given by Abraham Maslow. He analysed that within every human being there exist a hierarchy of five needs by categorizing all the factors into these five heads according to their occurrence. Any four needs are:
1. Physiological: includes thirst, hunger, shelter, sex and other bodily needs
2. Safety and security : includes security, arid protection from physical and emotional harm.
3. Esteem: higher order need. Includes self esteem, status recognition etc.
4. Self actualization: The drive to become what one is capable of becoming.
