Parthenogenesis is a form of asexual reproduction that involves the development of the female gamete into a new individual without being fertilized by a male gamete. In certain animals, parthenogenesis occurs regularly, constantly and naturally in their life cycles and is known as natural parthenogenesis. It is seen in honeybees, some fishes, gastropods and nematodes.
