1) Manish conducted an experiment in the field related to the rate of percolation. He observed that it took 20 min for 400mL of water to percolate through the soil sample. Calculate the rate of percolation.

1) Rate of percolation= Amount of water/Percolation time

= 400/20 =20mL/min

2) A non-living organic matter formed from remains of dead and decay plants and animals by the activity of micro-organism present in soil. Humus controls and regulates plant growth. The better the humus content in the soil the healthier and more productive the soil will be. Good humus also reduces wind erosion of soil.
