Answer the following.
How do biodegradable and non biodegradable waste cause land pollution?
Biodegradable waste includes kitchen wastes, discarded paper, human and animal excreta etc. These waste materials are buried in the soil i.e., in secured landfills for decomposition. As a result, soil quality decreases and it cannot be used for any other purposes.
The non−biodegradable wastes include plastic, polythene bags, biomedical wastes, chemicals etc. These wastes persist in land for long period and degrade the soil quality, thus causing pollution.
