Part 1: Functions of sweat glands
  • Sweat glands produce a watery secretion called sweat that is released on the surface of skin and helps to control the body temperature.
  • The sweat consists of water, sodium salts, and nitrogenous waste (such as urea)

Part 2: Functions of sebaceous glands
  • Sebaceous glands secrete sebum which contains substances that spread along the hair and onto the skin where it keeps the follicle free from dust and bacteria.
  • The oily substance forms a cover on skin that helps prevent water loss.
