What is lithosphere?

Lithosphere is the outermost layer of Earth consisting of crust and upper mantle portion of the earth.
Lithosphere is not a continuous layer it is divided into the movable tectonic plates. This is 100 km deep layer. The deepest and hottest part of the lithosphere is known as the asthenosphere.
