Some of the properties of mixtures are:
1. All the components or substances in a mixture retain their original physical properties.
2. The mixture can be separated into its components physically by using some techniques.
3. The components in a mixture may or may not be in a fixed proportion and can vary in quantity.
(B) (1) The mixture must be kept at rest for some time to settle down the sand particles at the bottom of the container, and in the meantime, the two layers of oil and water will form as both have different densities. [1 Mark]
(2) Oil can be separated by pouring out the oil layer from the water layer by decantation. [1 Mark]
(3) Water can be separated from sand particles by decantation of water into a separate container.[1 Mark]
(4) In the last step, the dusty, dirty water can be cleared by the filtration method. And we will get clear water.[1 Mark]
