Land productivity implies the total benefit or the total productivity that can be gained from a piece of land. It is measured in terms of productivity of land per hectare which is calculated by dividing the total production of crops by total land area under the crop. Land productivity is an important indicator of the economic development of a country as it signifies the average yield of a crop per hectare of land. However, this productivity depends on various factors such as rainfall, soil, fertilizers, technology, etc. Thus, higher the rainfall or better the technology, higher will be the land productivity.
