With agriculture being an important part of the Indian economy, many earn their livelihood by growing crops.
The yield, however, depends on getting the right amount of rain, at the right time. If the monsoons begin too early or are delayed, they adversely affect the crops.
Similarly, the amount of rainfall is also not constant. Lower than expected precipitation causes crops to wilt while greater than necessary rainfall causes water logging issues.
In any case, the farmer ends up suffering because the production is not as desired. Thus, we can say that Indian agriculture is gambling with the monsoon winds.
