The different characteristics of magnetic field lines are-

$\left(i\right)$ Magnetic field lines are always closed curves .

$\left(ii\right)$ The direction of magnetic field lines outside a magnet is from North pole to South Pole while inside a magnet the direction of magnetic field is from South pole to North pole.

$\left(iii\right)$Two magnetic field lines never intersect each other.

$\left(iv\right)$The density of magnetic field lines corresponds to the strength of magnetic field at that point in space.

$\left(v\right)$ Magnetic field lines can't abruptly decrease to zero at once from a finite value as in that case the direction of field at that point becomes indeterminate.
