when we move from right to left the numbers keep decreasing. So when we move to left side from $0$ we get numbers in the sequence as $-1,-2,-3,-4$ and so on and the number appearing in the right of any number is greater, and $-17$ will be on the left side of $-6$, so $-6$ is greater than $-17$
