Solution

The formula for the diameter of the pinhole is given by, d=2vλ, where d, v and λ are the dimeter of pinhole, disstance of image from the pinholeand wavelength of yellow light respectively.when pinhole is moved by 2m towards the object thend=2v+2λ again v/u =0.05or v=0.05u---1again v+2=0.0625(u-2)----2from eqns 1 and 2, 0.05u+2=0.0625u-1.250or 0.0125u=3.250or u = 32500125=214m.now v=0.05×214=10.70therefore d = 2vλ =210.7×550×10-9 =2588.5 ×10-5=2×24.2×10-5 or d=0.242×10-3m=0.242mm.
