Solution
The following are the various effects of population explosion in India.
1. Pressure on resources- Population explosion has created a pressure upon the natural resources such as land and water with more number of people consuming the resources. Also, with increasing demand for food, population explosion has resulted in a shortage of food and fodder.
2. Increasing social problems- Overcrowding and high population also results in increased social problems such as starvation, malnutrition and criminal activities like drinking, robberies and much more.
3. Loss of natural environment- With increasing population, the ecosystems and environmental resources are destroyed to make way for farming and urban development to accommodate the rising population.
4. High unemployment- Population explosion leads to an increase in the workforce of a country. This has created the problem of unemployment with more number of people willing and available to work but, comparatively lesser jobs in the market.
5. Low capital formation- With increasing population, the consumption also rises. Due to this, a very little part of the earned income is saved or invested which in turn results in declining capital formation.
