Antibiotics are ineffective against ___.

Open in App
Solution

Antibiotics functions are to interfere with the bacteria's ability to repair, stop bacteria's ability to make new cells and weaken the cell wall until it bursts. Viruses don't have the ability to repair, nor do they have any genetic material to make new cells nor does it contain a cell wall. hence, the mechanism of an antibiotic doesn't affect a virus at all.
