any three Measures that will make Indian cities more organised and liveable which need to be implemented to tackle the menace of pollution.
1. Think of recycling. Try to compost dry waste and don’t try to burn it.
2. Try to conserve electricity – Just because your house has got a solar, it doesn’t mean you should waste it.
3. Try to use public transport. Even though Delhi Metro has got a wide coverage of 300 KM, it still questions as to whether these can completely replace our own vehicles.
4. My opinion is that commercial vehicle contributes a lot to pollution because of diesel. Imagine the number of vehicle/trucks like Tata Ace on the roads with improper pollution certificates. These FC (Fitness Condition Report) are done by individual agencies and not sure if they do their work correctly. This is the main cause. Nowadays even passenger cars have come out in diesel – the problem even more intensifies. With Delhi’s rising levels its everyone’s actions now.
As a corporate,
Try switching over to renewable – which many India corporates are very active. As on date we have over 10GW of renewable and we continue to invest in renewables. The question now is how the existing Coal plants should be used. Should it be disposed – if so who will bear the fixed cost of the equipment. At the moment, India is cancelling all the existing coal based plants.
The question now is – can generation be stopped from the existing coal based plants. It may not happen very soon or companies should switch into advanced coal based technology.
A recent innovation by an Indian chemist is that they capture Carbon dioxide ( Tuticorin based manufacturer)and make baking soda – which is a great benefit for all the coal based plants. In this way, pollution can be brought to a minimum.
There is also another innovation from an Indian company which converts air pollutants into ink.
