Instructions: Give the issue of sanitation faced by the people and which non-government organisation is working to fix it.
Solution: The condition of sanitation is even worse than that of water supply.
According to a survey of 2001, 68% of houses in India have access to clean drinking water and about 36% have access to sanitation. And once again the poor people are the ones who suffer.
But there is one non-government organisation, named Sulabh working for about three decades to resolve the problem of sanitation faced by poor people in India.
It has given access to sanitation for about 10 million people. It constructs toilets with government funds in contract with municipalities.Till now the Sulabh has made 7500 public toilets and 1.2 million private toilets.
