Application Based Questions .
Why does transpiration occur mainly through leaves ?

Open in App
Solution

Leaves contain a very large number of stomata for gaseous exchange and there is little resistance to movement of water vapour through these pores. Moreover, the leaves have a large surface area. The greater the surface area, the greater will be the loss of water by transpiration.
