Aquatic plants:

  1. The plants that can live in water are called aquatic plants.
  2. There are three types of aquatic plants
  • Floating plants which float on water surface.
  • Partially submerged plants
  • Fully submerged plants.

Adaptation of aquatic plants:

  1. Roots of aquatic plants are reduced because the availability of water is plenty. The only function of root is to hold the plant in the soil.
  2. Stems of aquatic plants are hollow, thin, and long so that they can bend along with the water movement.
  3. In floating aquatic plants leaves are large and circular with a coating of wax on the surface.
  4. In submerged plants, leaves are thin, narrow and ribbon-like.
