Question

Are all animals equally sensitive to same intensity of light? Explain.

Open in App
Solution

  1. The cornea is the part of the eye that is responsible for the sensitivity toward the light rays.
  2. All the animals are having a different refractive index of the cornea.
  3. We know that the refractive index is given by μ=cv ……(1) where c is the velocity of light in a vacuum and v is the velocity of light.
  4. We also know that velocity v is given by v=fλ ……(2) where f is the frequency and λ is the wavelength
  5. Substituting the value of v in equation (1) we get,

μ=cfλ

μ1λ

Hence, all animals are not equally sensitive to the same intensity of light.
