Solution

Gymnosperms:

  1. Gymnosperms refer to plants in which ovules are not enclosed inside the ovary wall. The ovules remain exposed before and after fertilization.
  2. The leaves of gymnosperms are like scales or needles. These leaves are adapted to tolerate extreme climatic conditions. Example: conifers.
  3. Monocots refer to plants that produce covered seeds with a single cotyledon. Monocots are mainly found in angiosperms.
  4. Gymnosperms are not monocots since they produce naked seeds.
