Open in App
Solution

The chemical nature of ionic bond is explained below:

  1. Salt is a chemical compound formed by the combination of anions and cations, hence all ionic bonds are salts and all salts contain ionic bonds.
  2. For example sodium chloride which is made up of ionic bonding between Sodium cation and Chloride anion.
  3. In the formation of sodium chloride, sodium atom losses its electron to from Na+and chloride gains that electron to form Cl- .

Therefore, the chemical nature of ionic bond is explained in above points.
