Solution

Unicellular organisms

  1. Organisms with one cell.
  2. All pivotal functions are performed by one cell.
  3. Example- Protozoa, E.coli, etc.

Amoebozoans:

  1. Earlier, considered a phylum within the Protista kingdom.
  2. They are a group comprising approximately 2400 species(known) of amoeboid protists.
  3. They have tubular mitochondrial cristae and fingerlike pseudopods.
  4. Example- genus Amoeba, Chaos, etc.
  5. They survive as free-living, parasitic, or symbionts.
  6. Majority of them are single-celled.
  7. However species like slime molds (Dictyostelium discoideum) have a macroscopic multicellular stage.
