Solution

Coprophilous:

  1. Coprophilous organisms thrive on animal dung.
  2. Examples of coprophilous organisms include Pilobolus, Cyathus, and Bolbitius.

Ascomycetes:

  1. Ascomycetes (sac-fungi) are eukaryotic organisms that belong to the kingdom of Fungi. They can be multicellular or unicellular.
  2. They exogenously produce asexual spores (conidia) on a special type of mycelium called conidiophores.
  3. Sexual spores viz. ‘ascospores’ are produced endogenously in a sac-like ascus.
  4. Some ascomycetes are coprophilous. They obtain nutrition from animal faeces. Example: Sporormia fimetaria.
