Solution

Cell wall:

  1. A cell wall is a protective layer that surrounds the plasma membrane. It maintains the cell shape and provides mechanical strength.
  2. The bacterial cell wall and plant cell wall are not similar. There are various differences between them.

Difference between the bacterial cell wall and plant cell wall:

Bacterial cell wall

Plant cell wall

They are prokaryotes.They are eukaryotes.
Does not have a cytoskeleton.Has a cytoskeleton.

The bacterial cell wall is mainly made up of a polysaccharide named peptidoglycan. In addition, the gram-positive bacteria also possess teichoic acid in the cell wall.

The plant cell wall is composed of lignin, pectin, cellulose, and hemicellulose.

The cell wall doesn’t contain the middle lamella, primary cell wall, and secondary cell wall.

The cell wall has three layers- middle lamella, primary cell wall, and secondary cell wall. However, all plants don’t have a secondary cell wall.
