  1. Blue algae, also known as blue-green algae, are bacteria that have both bacteria and algae characteristics. They are also called cyanobacteria.
  2. Examples- Nostoc, Anabaena, Spirulina, Microcystis, and Oscillatoria.
  3. Some blue-green algae species create dangerous toxins when consumed, breathed, or come into contact with the skin.
  4. Skin irritation, minor respiratory impacts, and hayfever-like symptoms might occur after coming into contact with contaminated water that contains blue-green algae.
  5. Contact with blue algae can cause poisoning in pets, which can lead to death.
