Question

Are capacitors wired in series or parallel?

Open in App
Solution

Capacitors can be wired in both series and parallel.

When capacitors are connected in series, the total capacitance of N capacitors is the sum of all inverse capacitance as,

1Ctotal=1C1+1C2+1C3+.......+1CN-1+1CN

Whereas, when capacitors are connected in parallel, the total capacitance of N capacitors is simply sum of all capacitance as,

Ctotal=C1+C2+C3+........CN-1+CN
