The class Chondrichthyes comprises carnivorous marine fishes. Example: stingrays, electric rays, sharks, etc.
They are vertebrates. The endoskeleton is made primarily of cartilage.
Amniotes such as reptiles, birds, and certain mammals produce eggs that comprise a fluid-filled membrane (amnion). Amnion gives protection to the developing embryo.
Chondrichthyes are not amniotes. Their eggs lack amnion.
The eggs produced by these organisms are not laid. They mature inside the female and the young ones are born as miniature adults. This is called ovoviviparity.
