Question

Are contraction and expansion of ciliary muscles same ?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The expansion and contraction of ciliary muscles produces different outcomes on the eyes.
When the ciliary muscles are contracted the lens is not stretched it is in a relaxed state and focuses on near objects
while the expansion of ciliary muscles makes the lens flat and it is used for focussing on distant objects.
This mechanism is called as accomodation.
Regards!
