Euglenoids are eukaryotic, unicellular, flagellated organisms that belong to the kingdom Protista.
They possess a protein-rich layer called ‘pellicle’ instead of a cell wall.
They can prepare their own food and derive nutrition from other small organisms like an amoeba, algae, rotifer, etc. Hence, they follow a mixotroph mode of nutrition.
Euglenoids are mostly found in freshwater habitats that are rich in organic material. Example- Euglenales.
However, few of them are present in marine ecosystems (Eg.-Eutreptiales) or are endosymbionts.
