Open in App
Solution

Ferns:

  1. Ferns are vascular plants. They are mostly found in damp and shady areas.
  2. Ferns are not gymnosperms. They are pteridophytes.
  3. They have a well-developed vascular system. They do not produce seeds or flowers, hence called cryptogams.
  4. Ferns reproduce by forming flagellated motile spores.
  5. Examples- water fern, bracken, etc.

Gymnosperm:

  1. Gymnosperms refer to plants in which ovules are not enclosed inside the ovary wall.
  2. Thus the seeds are referred to as naked seeds, where separate cones are present for both the sexes.
  3. This is in contrast to gymnosperms that reproduce through seeds.
  4. Example- conifers, gnetophytes, cycads, etc.
