Open in App
Solution

Human teeth

  1. Humans have a permanent set of 32 teeth. They are of different types namely incisors, canines, molars, and premolars.
  2. Heterodont is the presence of more than one type of teeth in an animal.
  3. Humans have a heterodont dentition where there are four morphological types of teeth in the mouth.
  4. The incisors and canines are meant to tear and bite meat but are less efficient than a carnivore.
  5. The molars are present in the back row used for grinding and chewing.
  6. So humans are suitably adapted to process cooked meat along with plant matter such as fruits and vegetables, hence supporting an omnivorous diet.
