Integuments

  1. Integuments in plants are one or two layers of protective covering surrounding the ovule.
  2. They have a small opening through which the pollen enters the ovule called a micropyle.
  3. Their main function is to protect the ovule in the nucellus and after fertilization, it converts into a seed coat.
