Microbodies:

  1. Cell organelles are present in the cytoplasm of both plant and animal cells.
  2. As the name suggests, they are tiny in size and can be seen only under an electron microscope.
  3. They play an essential role in various chemical reactions.
  4. Example- Peroxisomes, glyoxysomes, etc.
  5. Peroxisomes are small vesicles mainly participating in lipid metabolism and the processing of reactive oxygen species.
  6. Glyoxysomes are specialized peroxisomes that help convert fatty acids to carbohydrates in plants & fungi.
