Active transport:
It is the transport or movement of molecules across a membrane, against the concentration gradient.
It means from a lower concentration to a higher concentration region.
Such movement requires energy and is often assisted by various enzymes.
Example- transport of sugar, ions, proteins, large cells, etc.
Mineral ions are absorbed by active transport.
They are present in higher concentrations in the roots compared to the surrounding soil and are charged molecules.
Calcium and magnesium are examples of ions required by plants for growth.
