Sponges:
Multicellular animals belong to the phylum Porifera.
They possess bodies full of pores and channels (water circulates through them).
They are found in ponds, streams, lakes, etc.
Nematocysts:
These are minute, elongated, or spherical capsule produced exclusively by members of the phylum Cnidaria.
They are mainly used for defence and prey capture. Also, sometimes for locomotion.
Examples- jellyfish, corals, sea anemones, etc.
Therefore, nematocysts are not found in sponges.
