  1. Organisms belonging to the phylum Nematoda.
  2. They are also known as roundworms.
  3. They are free-living or parasitic.
  4. Parasitic nematodes cause diseases in their hosts (both plants & animals).
  5. Examples of disease-causing nematodes- are Ascaris (causes ascariasis), and Wuchereria bancrofti (causes filariasis).
  6. Therefore, nematodes can be considered dangerous.
