Xerophytic plants:

  2. They are also called succulent plants like cacti and agaves which have thick, fleshy stems, cuticles, and leaves.
  3. They have fewer stomata to reduce the loss of water through transpiration.
  4. The leaves present are small or reduced as spines. The roots run deep into the ground.
  5. Examples: Cacti and some Gymnosperm plants.
  6. Pineapple is a xerophytic plant, monocotyledonous, and perennial which is a lily-like habit.
  7. They have tough, spiny tipped leaves which are waxy on the upper surface and show fragile dusty bloom on the underside.
