Are pre and postsynaptic neurons associated with each other at electrical synapses?

Solution
Synapses:
Nerve impulses transmit from one neuron to another, through a junction called synapses.
They are mainly of 2 types- chemical and electrical synapses.
In an electrical synapse, the presynaptic and postsynaptic membranes are very close together. They are actually physically connected by channel proteins forming gap junctions.
However, in chemical synapses chemicals like neurotransmitters play an important role.
Pre and postsynaptic neurons of chemical synapses have more gaps than there are in the case of electrical synapses.
Presynaptic and Postsynaptic neuron:
A neuron that transmits a signal towards a synapse is known as a presynaptic neuron.
A neuron that transmits a signal away from the synapse is referred to as a postsynaptic neuron.
Thus, pre and postsynaptic neurons are associated with each other at electrical synapses.
