Open in App
Solution

Decomposers:

  1. They are microorganisms that digest dead and decaying matter.
  2. The decaying matter is further converted into humus (organic matter in soil).
  3. Examples- Bacteria and fungi

Protists:

  1. They are simple, unicellular eukaryotic organisms.
  2. They are neither plants nor animals or fungi.
  3. Examples- algae, plasmodium, euglena, amoebas, slime molds, etc.
  4. Protists are either autotrophs (prepare their own food) or heterotrophs (obtain nutrition from other organisms).
  5. However, some fungi-like protists such as slime molds and water molds are decomposers.
