It is an informal category of animals.
They are used for invertebrates that are closely related to vertebrates.
Therefore, also known as lower chordates.
They do have a notochord.
They comprise the subphylum Urochordata and Cephalochordata under the phylum Chordata.
Hemichordate:
Organisms belonging to the phylum Hemichordata.
They have only some characteristics of Chordates while lacking others
.
They do not have a true notochord.
