Solution

Ribosomes

  1. Ribosomes are also called Palade granules, which are present in large numbers in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
  2. In eukaryotes, they are of 80S type and comparatively larger than prokaryotic ribosomes i.e.,70S type.
  3. Ribosomes are made of RNA and protein.
  4. They are the major sites of protein synthesis.
  5. Ribosomes are mainly found bound to the endoplasmic reticulum (forming the rough endoplasmic reticulum) and the nuclear envelope as well as freely scattered throughout the cytoplasm.
