Dear student,
Covalent compounds are insoluble in water . They cannot dissociate into ions so they are not soluble. Basically covalent compounds are soluble in non polar solvents and almost all organic solvnts are non ;polar. So they are soluble in organic solvent.
Yes ethanol is soluble in water as it is not a covalent compond as the O-H bond is ionic.
