In an equilateral triangle, the sides are equal. So the altitude becomes the perpendicular bisector. And since the perpendicualr bisector divides the side in two equal halves, the altitude is equal to the median. Because, median is nothing but a line form a vertex divding the side opposite to the vertex in two equal halves. In ΔABC, AD is both the altitude as well as the median of the equilateral triangle.
