  1. Organisms that excrete excess nitrogen are urea.
  2. Urea is less toxic and therefore needs less water in comparison to Ammonia.
  3. Example- mammals (including humans), adult amphibians, some bony fishes, etc.

Ammonotelic:

  1. Organisms that excrete nitrogenous waste as soluble ammonia.
  2. Ammonia is highly toxic & highly soluble.
  3. Therefore its excretion requires plenty of water.
  4. Examples-Aquatic organisms like protozoans, crustaceans, platyhelminths, etc.
  5. Turtles are generally ammonotelic (marine).
