Question

Area of a rhombus is 1200 sq cm. One of its diagonal is 20 cm. Find the another diagonal

Open in App
Solution

Area of the rhombus = 1200 cm

Length of one of its diagonals = 20 cm

We know that if the diagonals of a rhombus are d1and d2, then the area of the rhombus is given by :

Area = (d1×d2)/2

Putting the given values :

1200 = (20×d2)/2

1200 × 2 = 20 × d2

This can be written as follows :

20 × d2 = 2400

d2 = 2400/20 = 120 cm

Thus, the length of the other diagonal of the rhombus is 120 cm.

note:as u mentioned if the length of the diagonal is 20 it will not be a rhombus,if both the diagonal have same length it will be a parallelogram.the right answer is 120
