Let the side of the first square be a and side of the second square of b

Hence 4x = $a^2$ Hence $a$ = $\sqrt{4x}$

For the second square 9x = $b^2$ Hence $b$ = $\sqrt{9x}$

Hence ratio of sides = a : b

= $\sqrt{4x}$ : $\sqrt{9x}$

= $\sqrt{4}$ : $\sqrt{9}$ = 2 : 3
