Let the total number of shots be x
Then, shots fired by Arjun = $\frac{5x}{8}$
Shot fired by Karan= $\frac{3x}{8}$
Total number of successful shots taken by Arjun = $\frac{1}{3}$ of $\frac{5x}{8}$ = $\frac{5x}{24}$
Shot missed by Karan = $\frac{1}{2}$ of $\frac{3x}{8}$ = $\frac{3x}{16}$
$\frac{3x}{16}$ =27
x = 144
Number of times Arjun succeeded = $\frac{5x}{24}$ = 30
